Yellowstone Birding Tour

Yellowstone Birding

See Yellowstone's Birds with a Biologist

Join us on a private birding excursion with a local biologist as your personal guide. Birding in Yellowstone is incredible! Yellowstone is home to about 300 species of birds during the summer months, creating a unique birding opportunity in the Rocky Mountains. Mountain Bluebirds are a local favorite, Yellow-headed Blackbirds sing to their mates in the wetlands, and Sandhill Cranes make their eerie call as wolves howl in the distance. Yellowstone is a huge place with plenty to see! Using our expert local ecological knowledge, we'll maximize your chances of seeing the birds you're interested in. We'll access different areas in our comfortable tour vehicle. Plus, we will spend plenty of time out on the landscape. We may be able to find a few extra species on a short hike. Mountain Chickadees and Red-breasted Nuthatches tend to hide in the trees! It is not uncommon to see a life bird (a bird you have never seen before in your life) on a birding trip in Yellowstone. We can target specific species in a variety of habitats. Our highest-quality Swarovski and Vortex spotting scopes give you the best view of birds from a safe distance. We also provide binoculars. We can also enhance your knowledge of Yellowstone's natural history, ecology, scientific studies, and conservation efforts. As guides, we get excited about all kinds of observations, so let us know if you have a particular interest. Book your tour now to start adding to your life list!

Great Birding Experience. Nancy was an excellent guide and was very knowledgeable about the birds in the area. We saw so many new birds. Would definitely recommend.

Everything we'd hoped for! Because we had people visiting from out of state, my husband and I wanted to show them Yellowstone in winter in an up close and personal way. I'd never booked a 'guide' before, but the reviews for Cara and "In Our Nature" were uniformly excellent, and I contacted her. I am so glad I did. We drove to Gardiner the night before our trip -- Cara offered several suggestions for places to stay -- and we found excellent sparkling clean lodging a quick walk across the bridge from the main part of town. The next morning early -- when it was still dark -- Cara picked the four of us up and we headed to Mammoth and then across the northern route to Cooke City. The sunrise over the mountains was fantastic. The weather then worsened, but not so much that we couldn't see plenty of wildlife. One of our friends is a great fan of wolves, and she was thrilled to be able to see them in the wild through Cara's spotting scope. We all enjoyed that -- and the bison and moose and coyote and the eagles and, for our birding enthusiast, the American dipper. Cara is very knowledgeable about the park and the wildlife there. She made the day fun and memorable and always gave us the sense that there was no place she would rather be. We have friends coming from England in a few months and I've already told them that they need to hurry up and make a decision about when they are coming so we can get on Cara's schedule. It will definitely be a highlight of their trip. Thank you, Cara, for a wonderful day!

Cara is truly a gem. She customize her tour based on my interests and I got to see so many amazing sights. She was kind and funny and extremely knowledgeable. She somehow knew were all the wildlife was hiding. I had a great time and would not have enjoyed Yellowstone as much if it wasn't for her!
