Birding in Yellowstone is incredible! Yellowstone is home to about 300 species of birds during the summer months, creating a unique birding opportunity in the Rocky Mountains. Mountain Bluebirds are a local favorite, Yellow-headed Blackbirds sing to their mates in the wetlands, and Sandhill Cranes make their eerie call as wolves howl in the distance.
Yellowstone is a huge place with plenty to see! Using our expert local ecological knowledge, we'll maximize your chances of seeing the birds you're interested in. We'll access different areas in our comfortable tour vehicle. Plus, we will spend plenty of time out on the landscape. We may be able to find a few extra species on a short hike. Mountain Chickadees and Red-breasted Nuthatches tend to hide in the trees!
It is not uncommon to see a life bird (a bird you have never seen before in your life) on a birding trip in Yellowstone. We can target specific species in a variety of habitats.
Our highest-quality Swarovski and Vortex spotting scopes give you the best view of birds from a safe distance. We also provide binoculars.
We can also enhance your knowledge of Yellowstone's natural history, ecology, scientific studies, and conservation efforts. As guides, we get excited about all kinds of observations, so let us know if you have a particular interest.

We love using our expert local ecological knowledge to help you see and learn about the birds you are interested in. We'll teach you about many incredible aspects of Yellowstone and help you stay safe while you go wild! Your guide will carry bear spray and discuss bear safety.
Birding is most successful from viewpoints, overlooks, short hikes, and slow walks in key habitats. Using a vehicle helps us cover many areas, so we can see more of the birds you're interested in.
Brunch, hot drinks, and water refills are included. Please bring your own water bottle.
Plenty of high-quality scopes and binoculars are provided, so you won't miss out on the action!
Tours can be adapted to accommodate all ages and abilities. Please let us know at the time of booking if you have specific needs or disabilities.
Weather varies A LOT! We can have 60 degree (F) temperature changes in a day. Bring clothing layers. Yellowstone has a dry, high-elevation climate. BYO water bottle and drink plenty of water to have your best day. We provide water for refills in the field.
