Yellowstone Snowshoeing and Cross-Country Skiing

Do you want to get outside the vehicle, off the road and explore the wonders of winter in Yellowstone National Park? Choose the Yellowstone snowshoeing or cross country skiing adventure duration of your choice below to find out more!

Enjoy the sights and splendor of winter! We will venture out to a scenic destination in Yellowstone's north exploring varied terrain, searching for fresh animal tracks, and taking in stellar views. We have several routes to choose from depending on your tour choice, abilities, snow conditions, and weather. We could take in geothermal features and quiet forests near Mammoth Hot Springs, or a section on the Blacktail Plateau, where we are likely to see more wildlife.

Start times are flexible between 9 am and 11 am on half day trips and Snow Samplers can start later. We typically depart from Gardiner and ski or snowshoe in Mammoth, Tower Junction, Lamar Valley or the Northeast. Transportation is included; additional travel fees apply to trips in the Tower, Lamar and Yellowstone's Northeast.

All trips include equipment rental & hot drinks on the trail, and your knowledgeable guide. Snacks are provided on half day trips.

If you would like to combine a morning of wildlife watching with a little bit of cross-country skiing or snowshoeing, please contact us and we can customize a tour for your group.

Be Prepared!

Please remember to bring clothing layers! It is not uncommon to have 60 degree (F) temperature changes in one day. In the winter, that could mean a change from -20 to +40 degrees (F). Be prepared!

Yellowstone has dry, high-elevation climate, where it is difficult to stay hydrated at any time of year. It is important to drink lots of water in this environment.

Park entrance fees are not included. Entrance fees are $20 per person or $35 per family, and are good for one week. Annual passes are also available. Please see Yellowstone's website: or a park entrance kiosk for more information.

Gratuity is not included.
